Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Pulmonology and Tuberculosis
State institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Pulmonology and Tuberculosis” (Сentre) is a large scientific and clinical medical centre in Belarus. It provides highly qualified medical care, as well as organizational and methodological assistance in sphere of TB and other respiratory diseases for health care institutions of Belarus. The staff of the Centre includes more than 400 scientists, physicians, nurses and others.
Diagnostics, treatment and consultations are carried out by PhD and DSc degrees holders, pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons and TB specialists trained in leading clinics in Europe.
Republican Consultative Pulmonological Centre operates on the basis of the Centre and consults about 4000 patients from all regions of the country and foreign citizens annually.
Scientific reports of the Centre staff are presented on international scientific conferences every year. Numerous publications in national and international scientific journals made Belarusian TB and pulmonology scientific schools well known worldwide.
Diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of pulmonary TB, urogenital tract TB, childhood TB in all locations, and other diseases of the chest cavity (pleurisy, pneumothorax, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, sarcoidosis, etc.) are carries out in accordance with international standards and WHO protocols.
Modern X-ray, bronchoscopic, ultrasonic equipment is used for diagnostics. The Centre carries out all spirometric and functional stress tests to evaluate the functioning of the cardiorespiratory system with the use of a stationary multifunctional spirograph and ergo-spirometry system. Bacteriological laboratory carries out culture and modern rapid molecular diagnostics of M. tuberculosis. Unique surgery operations including the use of high technologies are carried out at the Centre. The video-assisted thoracoscopic operations in patients with obscure diagnosis are performed weekly.
The cost of treatment is significantly lower compared to similar clinics of other countries of the CIS.
